Albuñuelas
Albuñuelas, where the house is located, is an old mountain village dating back to the 10th or 11th centuries. Albuñuelas was on the route of of Al Idrisi, the first Arab geographer and Leon the African who travelled from central Africa to Granada. The village is perched on the slopes above the Rio Santo, with stunning views across the gorge, the Sierra de Albuñuelas and the Sierra de las Guajaras. It is a tranquil place, still retaining much of it's original charm and character. The inhabitants are welcoming of strangers, although they can be reserved at first.

The village is in two parts: the upper and lower barrios or quarters. The house is in the lower barrio. Shops and bars are within walking distance. There are two small grocery stores on the main road between Barrio Alto and Barrio Bajo. Both will deliver groceries and firewood to the house.
There are three bakeries in Barrio Alto. The bakers make deliveries every morning (excluding Sundays) to the Plaza, 15m from the house.
Also there is a delivery of fresh fish every morning to the same Plaza. There is a pharmacy and a doctor. There are two or three bars which serve food.
